The system used by Monflo is familiar, server and client, where the server must be running on the host computer to allow the client to connect to it, view the desktop as well as perform file operations, including transfers. Both the server and client get installed from the same setup package, and they can be launched from two distinct processes.

To make the pairing, the client has to connect to the server by ID. Although no password is requested, device authorization must be approved on the server side. This hassle can be avoided by creating a (free) account and logging in on all machines involved.

Once the connection is established, you can freely explore the remote PC and perform file management operations, including file transfers. As far as settings are concerned, you can choose another UI language, turn off audio and the display of the remote PC, as well as lock the remote keyboard and mouse.

Other customization options focus on audio and video streaming (size, frame rate, hardware acceleration), hotkeys (e.g. fullscreen, set window size), and file transfer (saving directory, maximum upload and download). Desktop shortcuts can be created to rapidly connect to the remote machine.

The tool didn't put a strain on the system's performance in our tests. However, we've encountered several hiccups along the way, the most notable being that we often failed in our attempt to perform any actions on the remote machine (the window was read only). It seems that Monflo has some stability issues to work on but, other than that, it looks like a promising remote control tool for Windows and Android devices. Perhaps it will create apps for other platforms too, such as iOS.
