After you have selected your location by entering your zip code or by using the integrated search function, the utility adds weather icons to one of Firefox's bars. This way, you have access to the forecast no matter what website you are visiting. You can reposition Forecastfox by simply clicking and dragging the four-point arrow icon.

Furthermore, if you want more details for a specific day, all you have to do is hover your mouse pointer over that particular icon. After a slight delay, a tooltip with meteorological information appears near your cursor.

By accessing the extension’s Options page, you are able to change the geographical location of the displayed information and the measurement units used or the icon graphics. Moreover, you can toggle the visibility of the expected humidity value, possibility of precipitations, barometric pressure, wind speed or the moon phase.

Additionally, you can display a weather satellite image of your currently set location. Power-users are able to change the URL for the radar image, as well as define the width and height of it. In order to reduce the clutter, you can configure the number of forecast days and set how many icons display a text label next to them.

Forecastfox offers many useful features and - together with the high degree of customization - amounts to a well-rounded browser extension that could rival stand-alone weather forecast applications.
