The GUI looks straightforward and allows you to preview how the guitar chords and scales are positioned directly in the main window. There’s also support for an online help manual that provides information about the program’s capabilities.
You can select between several chords and check out their correct representation. The first number corresponds to the top string of the guitar. If an ‘x’ sign is placed near a number, it means that string is mute. ‘0’ signifies that you should use that string without putting a finger on it.
You are allowed to perform searches to quickly identify tabs, print the entire chord file or a list with the target ones, play, edit and create your own drum patterns using different instruments (e.g. acoustic bass drum, tambourine, handclap, high/low bongo), as well as define your own guitar tuning and make the application play the chords in the tuning.
What’s more, you can create a playlist with the tabs that you want to play and open several examples of chord files.
Guitar Chords Crash Course gives you the possibility to adjust the playing speed, select and test the output device, choose the preferred instrument, tweak the volume and number of channels, as well as turn the fretboard upside down for left-handed options.
All in all, Guitar Chords Crash Course provides a straightforward approach for helping you play guitar chords, and can be mastered by beginners and professionals alike. The only problem is that is hasn’t been updated for a while so you can make use of its capabilities especially on older operating systems, like Windows 95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000, and XP.
