As far as the visual design is concerned, the application keeps things incredibly simple, offering a slim window which holds the necessary controls to load, play, and adjust playback options with little effort.

In terms of file support, you can work with a decent variety of files, such as MP3, WAV, and MIDI. Loading items of interest is either done through a drag and drop operation, or by relying on the browse dialog. Note, however, that there’s no info field to show the song title, not even the filename, and this doesn’t even happen inside the title bar.

The song automatically starts to play as soon as you load it. Progress is adjusted through a dedicated slider, while volume and even playback rate options are found in a dedicated menu. You can copy the playing song, and even choose to run a custom command from the same menu.

Unfortunately, you need to take the time to load another file when playback is done, because the application doesn’t come with support for playlists. This makes it less of a music player, and more of an audio analyzer. Playback controls are only handled through the interface, and a multimedia keyboard isn’t really of any use here.

All things considered, we can state that Howie's Quick Music Player isn’t really the music player to replace your conventional option, but rather the type of application you can use to analyze various audio effects.
