Although there is an evolving tendency to manage all documents on a computer, various activities require working with printed documents. There's also the possibility to print files to a virtual printer, task which generates special files on your computer you can then send and print out. With applications like NiXPS View you can organize these files in a better manner, edit and process them.

The application comes in a pretty light package, with a short and uneventful setup process that quickly gets it deployed on your system. Resources are not something to worry about and your computer won't feel a thing from running it. The design is also intuitive, with most space representing your interactive preview section.
As the name suggests, the application is capable of processing XPS files, which are created when you want to print something locally. You can either drag them over the main window or gather them through the dedicated file menu.
Unfortunately, you need to process one document at a time, because there aren't any implemented features for batch processing. In other words, adding more that one file to your workspace opens up as many instances of the application to handle each one individually. Moreover, there's no possibility to combine more files together, delete or add new pages, which is a big disappointment.
Files are cleverly displayed, instantly opened and there's even a page browser in case of large content. Editing options are rather shallow. You can add notes, but these are only for later processing because they have no impact on output.
In addition, if your files contain text, the application does a good job at identifying it and gives you the possibility to edit it. Sadly, there are no text customization options, not even a tool to add text, but only to modify existing strings.
You can save your documents for later processing, which makes for a neat management tool, especially if you add notes. What's more, you can export files under the PDF format, which tips the scales a little in the app's favor.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that NiXPS View is not the best XPS management utility of its kind, leaving a lot more to be desired. Sure, processing files is easily done, with support for drag and drop and options to edit text, but the lack of options for batch management or better editing options cut out a great deal of practicality.
