The current market is filled with programs wrapped in user-friendly and intuitive graphical interfaces. But some "old-school" users prefer working with command-line parameters for performing all sorts of tasks, both simple and meticulous. Tools that are launched in Command Prompt dialogs frequently give users more flexibility concerning tasks, and they are light on the system resources.
Another advantage of programs like SSRC is that they do not require installation. In other words, you can save the program files anywhere on the hard drive to launch a Command Prompt instance.
Alternatively, you can save these utilities to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run them on any machine seamlessly. Last but not least, the Windows registry does not get new entries, and file traces are not left on the hard disk after program removal.
In order to process WAV files with SSRC, these must be saved to the same location as the software app. Aside from modifying the sample rate, it is possible to attenuate the signal, specify the temporal file and output quantization bit length, enable two-pass encoding to avoid clipping, as well as normalize the WAV file. Batch processing is not supported.
Furthermore, you can hide errors, set the dither level (e.g. no noise or ATH-based noise shaping) and PDF type (Probability Density Function), as well as specify the conversion profile between standard (default quality) and fast (quicker but lower quality).
SSRC carries out a task swiftly and error-free. It worked smoothly on the latest Windows version in our tsets.
